Duration:  3 days

Course Aim & Objectives

 The aim of the course is to help participants and their organisations to be more effective advocates for change.

  • Advocacy and gender
  • Diagnostics skills for advocacy
  • Strategy planning for advocacy
  • Communications in advocacy
  • Skills for advocacy

Expected Outcomes

By the end of the course participants should be able to:-

   
  • Analyse the dynamics behind policy-making
  • Identify appropriate ‘levers of influence’  
  • Understand the role of research in advocacy
  • Identify different approaches to advocacy and the values and strategies that underlie them
  • Understand the various stages of the planning cycle in advocacy
  • Lobby decision makers and relate to the media with more confidence
  • Integrate monitoring and evaluation systems and procedures into advocacy programmes

 

Who Should Attend

Home and field based staff of Irish and international NGOs and Irish lay/missionary organisations who are specifically involved in managing, implementing and supporting advocacy work.
