Duration: 3 days

Course Aim & Objectives
The aim of the course is to help participants and their organisations to be more effective advocates for change.

- Advocacy process and planning
- Advocacy and gender
- Diagnostics skills for advocacy
- Strategy planning for advocacy
- Communications in advocacy
- Skills for advocacy
Expected Outcomes
By the end of the course participants should be able to:-
- Analyse the dynamics behind policy-making
- Identify appropriate ‘levers of influence’
- Understand the role of research in advocacy
- Identify different approaches to advocacy and the values and strategies that underlie them
- Understand the various stages of the planning cycle in advocacy
- Lobby decision makers and relate to the media with more confidence
- Integrate monitoring and evaluation systems and procedures into advocacy programmes
Who Should Attend
Home and field based staff of Irish and international NGOs and Irish lay/missionary organisations who are specifically involved in managing, implementing and supporting advocacy work.
